Meet Catherine

I’m Catherine Hamer, founder and principal designer of Hamer Design, a Melbourne based interior design studio creating thoughtful interiors that balance flow, function and feel.

With over 15 years’ experience across residential, commercial and education projects, my work is grounded in careful planning, material integrity and a strong understanding of how spaces are lived in day to day.

Originally from the UK, my background spans hospitality, commercial and residential interiors, giving me a broad and adaptable approach to design. Travel and years spent living in Melbourne have shaped a design sensibility informed by culture, architecture and a strong sense of place.

I’m drawn to interiors that feel calm, layered and deeply personal — spaces that quietly elevate everyday life while remaining practical, liveable and enduring.

I work closely with clients to understand how they live, what they value and how they want their spaces to feel. Depending on the scale of a project, I collaborate with a trusted network of architects, builders and specialist consultants to ensure each project is delivered with care, clarity and a high level of craft.

The result is interiors that feel cohesive, considered and genuinely reflective of the people who live in them.
